What Is The Future of Property Investment In The
UK?
This is a huge question to answer and to be honest it is
impossible to give a definitive answer. However, with the
recent credit crunch and increases in interest rates over the
past 12 months it seems that property investors are going to
have to work harder to pick up profitable property investments
and have a sound long term strategy.
Property investors who have a sound investment strategy who
focus on investing in areas of potential growth, strong rental
demand and investing in the right properties will see success
in all kinds of market conditions. It’s the investors who
invest in the wrong areas and the wrong properties who want to
make a quick buck who will see the losses.
But what are the prospects for the UK property market and more
importantly property prices. It seems in the short term that
property prices are slowly falling and in some areas they are
slowly starting to fall already in some of the major cities
across the UK.
However, you have to take into consideration the supply and
demand of property in the UK as generally, demand for property
outstrips supply and there is a massive shortage of homes and
this is one of the big economic reasons why property prices
continue to rise here in the
UK.
Another consideration to take into account is that the bank of
England is hotly tipped to drop interest rates to counter the
fall out from the recent credit crunch and there are rumours
that interests rates could fall as much by 1% in the next 12
months to ensure the economy continues to grow and the
property market remains active.
With the above two factors in mind we feel that property
prices will still continue to rise in the medium to long term
even though there will be periods where property prices will
stagnate or even fall marginally at times.
The demand for property in the UK is such that property prices
will continue to rise until there ceases to be a shortage of
properties in the UK or a catastrophic economic global event
occurs. Investing in property in the UK will always be a sound
investment as long as property investors invest in the right
areas and the right properties and have a good long term
strategy
